Who is Bolster?

Bolster is a digital, creative and product agency specialising in music, events and entertainment. We’re incredibly passionate about our clients and, hopefully, they’re on your radar too. We’re talking teams like Splendour in the Grass, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, Falls Festival, Chugg Entertainment, Fairfax Events, Pinot Palooza and Future Classic, plus global lifestyle brands such as YouTube, JBL, Sapporo and Blundstone.

We design and develop digital products for ourselves and our clients. Some notable mentions include Linktree, (an instagram tool with >1million users) and two webby award nominated projects: Buzz and LNWY - an online music publication we collaborated on with Laneway Festival.

What do we need from you?

We're on the hunt for a capable and creative web developer who wants to build amazing websites and web applications. You should have a thorough knowledge of PHP and/or Javascript with an eye for detail. Experience with ReactJS/VueJS is an advantage but not necessary for this role. You should feel comfortable working autonomously when needed or collaboratively within our amazing team.

We use WordPress for a lot of our client work which utilises OOP and MVC (not the usual WordPress development) within its themes so knowledge of WordPress or a willingness to learn is important. Our custom solutions and applications utilise a range of technologies which include Laravel, HapiJS, ReactJS, serverless, essentially any framework that best suites the solution.

You will also be familiar with the standard tools required for development projects (Git, Vagrant/docker, webpack etc).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining existing projects
  • Taking ownership of existing and new projects
  • The ability to estimate and deliver work to a timeframe
  • Refactor existing code and patch bugs
  • Working with our developers remotely on joint projects
  • Interacting with clients in a professional manner
  • Communicate with the team when struggling and reach out for guidance when necessary
  • Keeping up to date with best practices within the industry

Our ideal candidate has experience with:

  • OO PHP + Composer
  • Laravel
  • Webpack
  • Node + ES6
  • SCSS
  • Wordpress + ACF + Bedrock/roots
  • ReactJS
  • Vagrant
  • Knowledge of working with and building RESTful API's

Nice to have:

  • A love for music, comedy and entertainment.
  • Analytical skills
  • Experience with Project management/Task management/Time tracking systems such Jira/Harvest
